It’s been a busy year for us at North Shore Architectural Stone.  We’re finishing up two major projects that we’re excited to tell you about. One is the restoration of an iconic landmark building, a private residence, in New York City. The second is the refurbishment of the historic face of The Redbury New York (formerly the Martha Washington Hotel) on 29th and 5th.

Restoring the Face of The Redbury New York Hotel

This historic building located in Chelsea, was designated a historical landmark in 2012.  It opened in 1903 as The Women’s Hotel, the first hotel exclusively for women. While it has had several owners and names since then, it is now The Redbury New York. In addition to its “facelift” it also has 265 newly renovated guest rooms. The lobby includes a new restaurant, Marta, run by Danny Meyer. As an experienced certified Cathedral Stone product installer, we are honored to be part of the team that has restored this gem to its original glory.  Learn more about this project.

Private Residence Restoration

This historic landmarked residence has a spectacular rooftop terrace which features one of the residents 3 pools. As Jahn Certified Cathedral Stone installers, one of the challenges we had with this project was matching the stone and architectural details from the historic landmark building on the left to the new limestone façade on the right. The new facade looks like it has been there forever. It’s been a privilege to be part of the restoration team that includes interior architects Haynes Roberts, exterior architects Hustvedt Cutler (husband and wife team, Ingrid and Bruce), and the Merrick Construction Group to bring this magnificent residence back to its former glory.  See more details of this project.
